A little bit about me

Hi my name is Sierra and I've been working with kids over 30 years (maybe longer but I may be dating myself lol). I have a bachelors degree in Child Development from the University of La Verne, as well as a masters in School Psychology. With both degrees I have worn many hats working with kids. I've been the director of a preschool, the head teacher in an infant room, worked with autistic kids (and certified), special needs kids and everything and anything in between. From helping infants with downs syndrome strengthen their core via an exercise ball, to teaching speech delayed kids sign language. I am fortunate that my masters in school psychology, allows me greater knowledge into various learning styles and good insight into observing kids strengths and weaknesses. I sing, I sign, I read, I laugh and most importantly I engage. Kids are 10 percent of the population but 100 percent of the future. Kids are everything!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love legos. They are very engaging, kids are honing in on creativity and utilizing non labeled items to express themselves. For play, it is a child's safe place. A great opportunity to gain report and go from there. Also you dont really need to talk to use legos. I can, for example play and make sounds solo. Once the child sees how fun and goofy I am, it makes it easier! Kids warm up quickly to me (:
