A little bit about me

I have a passion for childcare and aim to give children a calm and secure environment to grow and develop! My experience in free and paid childcare gives me confidence in my capability to support parents in their mission to nurture their children.

My experience with special needs children gives me the ability to support children of many different backgrounds. I believe that children need and deserve safe and fun outlets to help them explore. I give children the opportunity to explore new experiences through crafts, boardgames, puzzles, and outdoor games.
I believe that open and honest communication is the backbone of trust. I foster trust with parents by frequently communicating on their child's day, and addressing any concerns that arise.

Though I am finishing out high school, I have a flexible schedule that allows me to work during the day. My experience allows me to feel comfortable caring for up to three children, while gently enforcing household rules and doing light housework.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have years of experience volunteering in church nurseries, working with children aged 0-15. These volunteer positions have given me the opportunity to lead classrooms of children with special needs, such as sensory processing disorders, adhd, low functioning autism, fetal alcohol syndrome, diabetes and more.
I have babysat for my many nephews and nieces of varying ages and have nannied for a family with a 3 year old, 1.5 year old, and new born.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love reading and having dance parties with the children I care for! I also love playing dress up, make believe, dolls, hide-n-seek, and doing all sorts of arts and crafts, and have lead craft workshops at a community education center.
When we get to be outside I enjoy riding bikes, playing tag, making flower chains, playing the drums with sticks, cloud watching, going to the park and much more!
I have a love for all things music and enjoy being able to share that with children, I currently work part time at a library and enjoy sharing my love of literature, story times are always a blast.
One of my favorite things to do with children is to talk about the world around them, how do crops grow, how are clothes made, etc.
I am constantly looking for new things we can do, new toys to promote development, and new games to spark creativity!

The most important part about being a nanny...

One thing my nanny kids do that will always make me laugh, is when they start copying my turns of phrase and the noises I make! Things like singing the “peanut butter jelly song” at lunch, repeating the whooshing sounds I make when I pick them up to their toys, the sputtering noises when we’re pretending to make coffee, the ringing sound when we’re making a pretend phone call, saying “I’m a smarty-cookie!” to themselves when they complete a task for the first time, saying “Oh my goodness!” when something surprises them, and many more!
Every time I see them take something they learned and put their own spin on it I feel like I get a glimpse of who their grown-up selves will be, and it fills me with joy!
