More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I worked as an assistant art teacher at a DC charter school for children 4 years old to 5th grade. During Covid I was a teacher to 2 different pods. A group of four 2nd graders and to five kindergarteners. It was an experience of a lifetime
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
For beautiful days I love doing nature walks / outdoor scavenger hunts, neighborhood clean ups where we pick up trash in our neighborhood and learn about the importance of caring for our community, going to the movies, visiting museums!!, going out to restaurants, visiting libraries, attending workshops and events for kids, going to the zoo, going on bike & scooter rides. The activities for indoor are so many! I love when we can follow cooking and baking recipes, yoga, dance parties, karaoke before bed, obstacle courses. The possibilities are endless!
The most important part about being a nanny...
I believe it’s the relationship you build with all members of the family. It’s the trust and love that’s given. I also love when you’ve spent a significant amount of time with a child and they begin to see you as their safe place.
My experience with special needs children...
I do not have any but I am willing to learn and do whatever I can to be prepared. With every child I am patient, gentle and encouraging. I believe all children are capable and learn at their own pace. I am here to be their cheerleader and celebrate every milestone
The most important part about being a nanny...
There’s so many but the one that stands out is traveling with a family I worked for to Belize and snorkeling in the ocean with the child and sharks!

Full-Time Nanny Available in Washington, DC: Haren S.
Hi there!! My name is Haren , I am 35 years old, and I obtained my Bachelor's in Criminology & Criminal Justice in 2012 from the University of Maryland, where I took several courses on Early Childhood Development. My goal is to attend law school in the future, but childcare has always been effortless for me. I have 15+ years of experience, dating as far back as the age of 13 when I took on the role of care giver to my 6-week-old nephew on weekends until he was 4 years old. Moving from Philadelphia to Maryland for undergrad, and now living in DC only led me to sharing my experience and knowledge with families in the area, while gaining much more knowledge along the way. Many families I have had the privilege of working for describe me as a baby whisperer of sorts, seeming to always be able to assess and manage even the most fussy of temperaments! I am very knowledgeable, organized, and reliable! I seek to put each family's mind at ease knowing I am around for anything; even fur babies!
