More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
My most relevant experience includes several years working in a preschool special education classroom, where I cared for and supported children with a variety of developmental and communication needs. I have experience working with children on the autism spectrum, including nonverbal children who use AAC devices. I’m also a WSI-certified swim instructor and have taught swim lessons to children as young as 1 year old. I’m currently pursuing my degree in Early Childhood Special Education and have coursework in child development, developmental milestones, and age-appropriate activities.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Some activities I enjoy doing with children include sensory play, arts and crafts, reading books, music, outdoor play, walks, and hands-on activities. I especially enjoy finding activities that match each child’s interests and developmental level while helping them learn through play.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of being a nanny is creating a safe, loving, and supportive environment where a child feels comfortable being themselves. I think it’s important to get to know each child as an individual, be patient and consistent, and support their development while making sure they have fun and feel cared for.
My experience with special needs children...
My experience with children with special needs comes primarily from several years working in a preschool special education classroom. I have worked with children with autism, developmental delays, and communication needs, including nonverbal children who use AAC devices. I’m comfortable adapting activities and routines to each child’s individual needs and supporting their communication, independence, and development. I’m also currently pursuing my degree in Early Childhood Special Education, which has given me additional knowledge of child development and developmental milestones.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite moments working with children is seeing a child accomplish something they’ve been working toward, especially when it’s something that may have been challenging for them.
