A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Samantha, I am studying AA transfer studies in behavioral science at Mountwest Community College. My passion is being around kids and fur babies, however I have only babysat my own nieces and nephews, I’ve never “officially” had a babysitting “job”. I don’t really like to look at watching babies a job anyway, I consider it my play time as well. I am most happy when I’m capable of playing activities with kids, teaching them new skills and mechanisms, and understanding them on their level and helping them understand ours! However I don’t have 100% experience or fancy degrees like a lot of people, I hope I get trust and am able to prove myself to someone out there. If I were able to be your nanny, I’d prefer us to pretty much be “family” and have that “family” hindsight. I am easy to get along with and understanding, but all at the same time not perfect!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

The only time I have ever gotten to care for other children was my husbands nephews, or my own family members when I was taking them out for movies or babysitting them for a family member while they went out on dates with their s/o I don’t have any actual experience that withstands, however my husbands nieces and nephews age from 6,4,3, and 1 & mine age from 13, 8, 6 and 9. The only stages I am not comfortable with is bottle feeding/formula feeding, and babies that are not capable of providing their own stability without a lot of support. I don’t full on trust myself with infants yet, it’s just a scary thing to me as of right now. However toddlers, i could sit here and take on a football team . I never could understand why!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Outdoor activities I love doing is tye dying shirts, squirt gun water fights, going to the park, taking walks, “using our imagination and coming up with the game they think of and the rules they make up.”, I love to see their imagination run wild and them get creative. Indoor, I usually try to keep the messes minimum but still have fun. So I constantly watch diy videos on how to do things without big messes and go to our local home depot or Menards and buy table coverings or things so we can do arts and crafts inside too. I love painting with kids, I love watching them draw, during the holidays writing Santa letters and mailing them, “telling stories” , baking together, I believe that if a kid makes a mess they should be taught to clean it up so I also make a game out of that. I try to make everything fun, casual, but also a learning experience at the same time while I connect with the children on their level and understand them and why they behave certain ways.

My experience with special needs children...

I have never cared for special needs children, however some mechanisms I have learnt through schooling I felt that are useful is when a special needs child is reacting is a overwhelming manner calmly talk to them, don’t yell or scream, and figure it out pretty much. Every child has a reason, and some children have harder time expressing their reason then others. Every child has a different play technique as well, so you just have to watch and learn. adjust and help.
