A little bit about me

I’ve worked in Early Childhood Development professionally in some capacity since 1998. I did briefly try corporate America, but quickly realized my heart is in working with children and families. For the past 17+ years, a nanny and family assistant. I’ve worked long-term with seven different families, all of which would describe me as dependable, fun, committed, safety-focused, and kind.

In addition to providing attentive, developmentally appropriate care, I handle all child-related responsibilities as well as family laundry, meal planning and preparation, and a full household reset each evening.
I implement a loose curriculum centered around learning through play. I create lesson plans, display the children’s work, and share frequent photo updates throughout the week. I feel it is important that children are given the opportunity to learn about their community and practice social skills by going on adventures outside of the home.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I worked as a credentialed preschool and toddler teacher for over six years. In addition, I have experience as a summer camp coordinator, enrichment teacher (leading classes in Spanish, music, phonics, reading, cooking, and science) and as a daycare provider. I also have an adult daughter of my own, which I believe further strengthens my perspective and skill set as a childcare professional.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

One of my greatest strengths is bringing fun and joy into a child’s day. In early childhood education, it’s well known that children learn best through play, so I intentionally plan engaging indoor and outdoor activities that help them absorb new concepts without learning ever feeling like a chore. I’m skilled at recognizing each child’s abilities and creating experiences that are appropriately challenging, building confidence without causing frustration. Favorite activities include sidewalk chalk learning games, leaf mazes and races, zoo scavenger hunts, felt-board stories and finger plays, dancing with scarves, homemade playdough, painting with shaving cream to practice math, nighttime letter hunts with flashlights, themed builds like leprechaun traps, visits to the 4-H fair to learn about animals, and practicing table manners during restaurant outings. Through these experiences, children develop academic readiness, creativity, social skills, and confidence while having genuine fun.
