Working with special needs children completed changed the way I view life. I used to look past the little things of life, oftentimes taking them for granted, but after spending time with the most resilient, courageous, and smart kids at different clinics, I learned the way they saw the world was so much more beautiful than I ever could see myself.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of the nonverbal kids I worked with would copy the positive affirmations I taught him. I wanted to instill in him as much as I could how smart, loved, and brave he was and is. A couple months into our time working together, his mom shared with me how he would find his son repeating the same affirmations in the mirror at home. In that moment, I realized he was not just copying me and I was so touched that I could make just a tiny difference in a families life!
