I've been a big sister for 24 years, an aunt for 14, spent 6 years caring for my father and grandmother in their final years, and I spent 8 years bartending. I've caught more than one baby by their foot, and I know better than to argue with the elders. My dad was a veteran and a police officer, and my mom is an RN.. so I was raised to be somewhere between hyper aware of danger (it's everywhere) and "calm down, you're not dying". I love to be outside and I fear no critter. I know how germs work and I clean and cook accordingly. My nephew says I'm the funniest person he knows.

I was watching after a little girl, she was 4 months old and hadn't ever seen a dog before. I introduced my basset hound to her and her jaw literally DROPPED with disbelief... staring at him, like what is this? He came close to her, sniffing her curiously - and she took a deep breath and closed her eyes as if he was going to eat her up.... when suddenly, she opened her eyes and made an unmistakable face expressing her pure shock horror as his drooly jowls touched her arm. Despite this, the soon became good friends and "Duke" was her first word after "dog".
