What matters most to me about being a nanny is that there is support for the entire family. Unlike daycares, having a nanny means each child gets one-on-one time and personal care. Inviting someone into your home to watch your children involves a lot of trust, so I understand the importance of showing support and appreciation for the parents as well as the children.

My most memorable moment as a nanny was my last day of the summer the second year that I had worked with my previous family. All four of the kids had written me notes thanking me and they had created a scavenger hunt for me to follow to find my "prize." The scavenger hunt modeled the games I had created for them during the summer and I remember recognizing the impact I had on their lives for the first time in my life. For five years they did something special for me on my last day, but drawings and notes will always be my favorite keepsake.
