The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of being a nanny or even a caretaker is being a Master of Multi-Tasking. In one moment, I am a professional focused on fine motor milestones and CPR safety; in the next, I am an imaginative explorer navigating a "lava" carpet with a toddler. It’s about having the technical skills to manage a schedule, while also having the empathy to handle the "tragedy" of a broken cracker with genuine care.
Ultimately, it’s about being a reliable, calming presence who can guide a child through their day—making everything from developmental learning to "getting ready for school" feel like a positive, shared adventure.

My experience with special needs children...
I don’t have hands on care with special needs children but I do volunteer for special Olympics of Rhode Island and I’m more than willing to learn anything I need to know
The most important part about being a nanny...
I currently work in a daycare setting, and while there are plenty of sweet moments, the funniest ones usually involve a total lack of situational awareness!
I was helping feed a group of toddlers and stood up for just a second to lean over the table and reach something. Unbeknownst to me, one of my tiniest 'assistants' decided that my chair was better suited for the other side of the room.
Without looking, I went to sit back down with full confidence... and ended up flat on the floor. The look of pure, innocent confusion on her face while I was sitting there on the linoleum was priceless. I definitely learned my lesson: Always check for your chair before you commit!
