A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Sebastianie Pompee. I am a recent BS in Psychology major with a minor in Criminal Justice. I love everything in the creative realm such as painting, creating, and especially journaling, educating, and planning. I absolutely loveeeee working with children and have been since the age of 10 years old. I've always volunteered or worked with children in my community, schools, and church.

I currently work as a Classroom Assistant for children with the autism spectrum at a middle school in North Broward. I work alongside with them to help with homework, behavioral, and speech issues.
Until I have my own, being able to tend to little ones will be the greatest gift God has blessed me with. I hope your family and I can meet soon!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Substitute Teacher for Kelly Education Services
Classroom Assistant at Silver Lakes Middle School
After School Counselor at Pembroke Pines Elementary under Sunshine Aftercare Programs
Youth Creative Director at Gateway Family Foursquare Church
Mentor at Images Modeling Troupe at Florida A&M University

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love doing ice breakers that helps to know the children and tap into their personalities. I enjoy doing art activities that relate to their current curriculum and grade level at school. Games like hangman, scramble, and iSpy also take up time during my bonding moments with my children. Board games like Uno, Mancala, and even study flash cards, always excite my students/ clients. Outside activities vary such as hopscotch, jumprope, Red Light Green Light, All Around the World (Basketball Game), and dancing. When it comes to games, I like to play and create anything that is both educational and fun. I tend to stay away from electronics as much as I can. The list of games are endless because the key is to always be interactive with my students and with everything I do, I always try to retain their attention because students in certain age groups find it hard to pay attention in class or when an elder is instructing them to do something. Learning should be fun and not boring for children.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My most favorite part of being a nanny is every part. There is not one day where I sign in and I go in expecting anything from my clients; every time I leave I learn something new and it's always a new experience. I love how I am able to grow with each client that I take in.

My experience with special needs children...

I have been working with special needs children for more than 5 years in school and outside of school. I currently work as a Classroom Assistant for a middle school in North Broward, FL. Before this experience I babysat for couples with special needs in my community and within my family. I've also freelance volunteered with taking care of special needs students afterschool as they waited for their buses to arrive in high school (North Miami Beach Senior High School)

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moment was when a special needs client of mine (age 12) was struggling with simple addition and subtraction. Their mother said she was trying for years and didn't know what she was doing wrong. But with my time being a nanny for this child, he was able to add and subtract within two weeks time. He even surprised me once when I told him to work on one practice problem while I checked his homework and by the time I was done. he had finished the whole set of 8 questions with no errors. This moment made me very emotional because I am one who has high hopes and beliefs in the people and children I work with. I am not one to give up on anyone so seeing a dramatic change with this client's math retention made me a proud nanny.
