More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I’ve gained experience caring for children through regular babysitting for family, friends, and neighbors, where I looked after kids of different ages—helping with meals, bedtime routines, homework, and playtime. I also volunteered in school programs that involved working closely with young children, including those with special needs. In these roles, I helped create a supportive and inclusive environment by assisting with activities, offering emotional support, and making sure each child felt safe and understood. These experiences strengthened my ability to connect with kids, be patient, and handle different situations with care and confidence.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy doing arts and crafts, reading books together, playing outdoor games, baking simple treats, and creating fun learning activities. I also love helping with homework and finding ways to make everyday routines fun and positive.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is building trust—with both the child and the family. It means being someone the child feels safe with, can rely on, and feels genuinely cared for by. It’s not just about keeping a routine or supervising; it’s about creating a positive, supportive environment where a child can grow, feel confident, and be themselves. Being consistent, patient, and loving is what truly makes a difference.

My experience with special needs children...

I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with special needs students through school volunteer programs. My focus was on helping them feel included, supported, and understood. Whether it was assisting with classroom activities, offering one-on-one support, or simply being a patient and friendly presence, I always made it a priority to treat each child with kindness and respect. These experiences taught me the importance of empathy, consistency, and adapting to each child’s unique needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite nanny moments was when a child I was babysitting surprised me by proudly reading an entire book out loud—something they had been struggling with for weeks. We had been practicing together every day, turning it into a fun routine with silly voices and encouragement. Seeing their confidence grow and their face light up with pride was such a special reminder of how small moments can make a big difference in a child’s life.

I am Ivanna Regalado who will become a senior the following school year at School for Advanced Studies (SAS) Kendall. I have always wanted to work with children, and this started because when I was only a month old I was already put into daycare. This let me learn more about children my age and find out how every person has a different mindset. I forwarded with this goal by first attending John A. Ferguson SHS in the early childhood magnet program and have gotten experience working with children throughout two internships: Miami-Dade Public Library Systems Kendall Branch and Oliver Hoover. At my old high school I attended at, it demonstrated new skills, such as patience and lesson planning. This got later improved at the Kendale Lakes Library (my first internship) where I managed to practice these skills more at the Saturday morning readings. The internship after, which was at Oliver Hoover, allowed me to have more hands-on experience with children. Thank you!
