Since 2019, I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with children with special needs, including those with autism and cerebral palsy. Through this experience, I’ve learned how to provide patient, compassionate care while adapting to each child’s unique abilities and communication styles. I’ve assisted with mobility support, feeding, sensory-friendly activities, and creating structured routines that help children feel comfortable and secure. I’m familiar with following individualized care plans and understand the importance of working collaboratively with parents, therapists, and educators to ensure consistency and support in the child’s daily life. This work has helped me become more attentive, flexible, and dedicated to meeting each child exactly where they are.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite moments as a nanny was helping a child I cared for take their first steps. I had been working with them for several months, and we had spent a lot of time doing activities to help build their strength and confidence. The joy on their face—and their parents’—when they finally let go and walked a few steps on their own was unforgettable. It was such a rewarding reminder of how meaningful this work is and how even the small moments can make a big impact in a child’s life. Being part of that journey was incredibly special, and it reminded me why I love working with children.
