My girls love Disney, so of course I allow a small amount of tv time, but for majority of our day, we enjoy learning. We build with Legos, we read educational books, flash cards and even do arts and crafts
The most important part about being a nanny...
Besides putting them first and keeping them safe, Id say the most important part about being a nanny is being able to bond and socialize with whome you are watching. I don't just want to be someone that watches your kid, I want your kids to want to be watched. Social activities, learning new things. Enjoying the time away from home.
My experience with special needs children...
My neighbor of 7 years had a very sweet and energetic girl with autism. Instead of being her nanny I took it more as a mentor job. Kind of like a big sister program. We did things she couldn't do herself. Painted nails, drew pictures and went on walks. Its definitely different, but I loved every minute that I got to spend with her. Truly one of the nicest and kindest children I ever met.
