Hi! I’m shannon. I’m a current student at NYU Tisch studying Acting at the Atlantic Studio. I love kids, and having been the oldest in my extended family, I have been well equipped with loving and caring for all ages and personalities. I gravitate toward being a nanny because my brother and I had a nanny growing up that was harsh and saw no need for respecting boundaries. I want to do better. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have worked for 5 years at an after school program for drama. The age group this included was around 8 to 15. I was in placed in charge of a group of around 30 children. This was by far the most rewarding experience of my life. Additionally, I have been the family babysitter since I was 12 and have babysat children anywhere from 11 months old to 14 years old.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Growing up in Florida, I love to be outside. Playing should really be playing ( if maria from the sound of music has taught me anything). However, I love imagination and many times that may advance indoors. I love to sing and dance, but to me, the most beautiful thing to watch is someone grow, so homework is more an adventure to me than a challenge.

The most important part about being a nanny...

What matters to me is allowing the children I nanny to feel that they have an additional friend, not someone that gets paid to be with them. It is equally as important that parents feel that I can serve as an active facilitator of their parenting, only ever making it easier on them to be the amazing parents they are.

My experience with special needs children...

I have little concrete experience with children who happen to have special needs. However, I grew up in a home with a mother who studied child development in college and worked as a Preschool teacher for children with special needs. Many scenarios are familiar to me, but most importantly I am very flexible and understand that a no two children are the same.
