Hi! My name is Sheerel. I’m a 3K teacher with the DOE throughout the year. I’m currently working as a head counselor for Asphalt Green Summer Day Camp on the UES with a group of twenty 4-5 year old students. I have been working with children in K-5th grade for around five years. I have experience in a variety of different capacities regarding children. I am looking for occasional opportunities or short term gigs before I have to go back to college in the fall. I’m pursuing an ECE degree at The City College of NY. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

A 7 year old boy for a single family living in Ridgewood, Queens. I began taking care of him during October of last year until the pandemic hit. While caring for him, I cooked/prepped healthy meals and snacks, cleaned around the house, met with his parents about any health concerns given he was diabetic, and organized interactive activities to engage in the afternoon on weekends.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Creating arts and craft activities, music and movement, taking children to daily outings such as the park, café, and library, and reading hilarious children’s books such as those of Dr. Seuss.

Providing safe and developmentally appropriate care to the children I am working with.

My experience with special needs children...

Two years ago, I worked at a daycare that serviced toddlers with autism called Books and Rattles, located in Middle Village, NY. While working there, I was a teacher assistant and performed tasks such as supervising daily activities, organizing and preparing materials for lesson plans, and providing one on one instruction to students that needed extra support.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I was babysitting a 7 year old boy whose family lived in the Ridgewood, Queens area from 2-6pm on weekdays. The parents requested I take care of him for the night, because they wanted time to themselves. At one point, when I was trying to put him to bed, he urged me to read "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" and I agreed. He told me that I was the best babysitter ever because the previous nannies he had never read him a bedtime story so he can go to sleep.
