A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Shelby Correa. I just turned twenty-seven in June. I worked at Twinkle Twinkle pre-school for about a year. It's a private preschool so I'm used to working with kids both under and above preschool ages as well as watching them on field trips in public places. Normally I would have about five kids at a time on my own. I'd prefer no more than three at a time but I can make exceptions.... Because I worked at a preschool I am CPR certified, have basic first aid training and am skilled in cleaning up the mess from fun time/ meals.

I grew up babysitting my six siblings long before I became a preschool teacher.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love arts and crafts when it comes to inside! Outside though, child friendly hikes are a lot of fun if the parents allow it. If not, we could always let our imaginations run wild at the park or in the back yard. High energy games with lots of running are perfect for me.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Helping kids expand their minds and themselves in a healthy way. As a nanny an important part of our job is making the children feel comfortable and safe while being separated from the people who would usually bring them comfort (their caretaker). This is a very important moment for us as nanny's to help the children with their independence and social skills.

My experience with special needs children...

My cousin has down syndrome. I went to school with her my whole life.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moment was when one of the students on a field trip wasn't having a very happy moment at lunch. He was one of our younger kids so I picked him up, took him to the table next to the one we were previously at and we sat and took deep breaths together until he was able to calm down. After that we ate watermelon together and watched the bee hive (from a safe distance) that we could see in the tree from our table while all of the other kids played tag nearby. Kids have a way of turning the simplest things into the best memories.
