I have several years of experience working with children through ChildCareCareers, where I supported classrooms and cared for kids in different childcare environments. I also worked as an afternoon cooking instructor for children with the "Daniel Eric Rumph Foundation", teaching simple recipes and helping kids learn basic cooking skills in a fun and safe environment.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love doing a variety of activities with children, from outdoor play and crafts to drawing and making snacks together. One of my favorite things is creating games with kids or trying out games they invent themselves. I`m very open to different activities and enjoy helping kids explore their creativity while they have fun. At the same time, I always make sure the children are safe and engaged while we learn and play together.
The most important part about being a nanny...
To me, the most important part of being a nanny is being able to the world from a child`s perspective. Remembering what it feels like to be curious, excited, frustrated or overwhelmed helps me connect with children and support them in a way that feels understanding and encouraging.
My experience with special needs children...
I also have experience caring for a child with special needs. For about three months, I was assigned to support a child who had difficulty speaking and was often on the move or wanted to stay very close by. My main focus was keeping him safe, helping him feel comfortable and supporting his needs throughout the day. Over time, I was able to gently help him practice sitting calmly for short periods and communicating through simple hand gestures.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite nanny moments was during a playdate when the kids created a "grape and tea party" and invited me as their special guest. I was served purple blocks and pretend tea while they shared their important gossip with me.
