Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have volunteered my free time the last three summers to the JCC Challenge League. The JCC Challenge League is a program that allows disabled children to enjoy the fun of baseball. As a volunteer, it was my responsibility to ensure my assigned child at the game is kept safe and has a good time! Another fun thing I have done is volunteer for the past 2 school years at the Little Bearcat Preschool. Little Bearcat Preschool is a half-day program for 3-5 year-olds to set them up for kindergarten. While I absolutely loved my kids at Little Bearcat Preschool, I sadly had to move away, making me no longer able to spend as much time there, but I am excited for my next opportunity!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
While I enjoy any time I get to spend with the children, I am watching, I definitely have a few favorites I am quick to suggest. As anyone who lives in Indiana knows, our weather can be very unpredictable, so always having ideas for outdoor and indoor activities is a necessity. My favorite indoor activity to do is some type of cooking/treat-making activity. Depending on the season or upcoming holiday, making some sort of snack or little treat seems to always be a big hit, no matter the child's age. But I believe on the days we are able, we should get outside. Although a very basic answer, I love taking the kids to the park. There are so many different types of activities to do at the park, and a great way to get out some of that extra energy they may have pent up.
My experience with special needs children...
I have previously worked with children with autism, ADHD/ADD, and OCD.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moment with a family has got to be my time actually traveling with them to Universal. It was so fun to be able to watch the kids have so much fun (me included lol). During this trip, I even got to bond even more with the parents, which was great since I didn't typically get to spend a lot of time with them. That family will forever hold a special place in my heart!
