I have been a TA in a first grade grade class at Bush Elementary School in Salem Oregon during college as well as a lead camp counselor at Tumbleweed Day Camp in LA for 4-5 year olds!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
For the three boys I nannied for in the summer of 2020, I tried my best to recreate summer camp activities throughout the week for them since the pandemic cancelled their camp. We did science experiments, sports in the yard, baking and cooking, and lots more! I've also helped with tutoring and school work for the older kids I've cared for. Also activity drop off/pick up and supervision at playdates, etc. For toddler/infant care in Salem I stayed with them from morning to afternoon doing fun home immersive activities, playing outside, going on walks to the park and reading books. I also provided all meals and bottles during lunch/snack time.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I think that creating a safe, kind and engaging environment for the child while the parent is away is the most important part of being a nanny. I believe having a stable and reliant adult in their care is extremely important for children's development. I prioritize this the most along with being respectful of each families parenting wishes and styles.
