The most important part about being a nanny is building a safe, trusting, and nurturing relationship with both the child and their family. Children need to feel secure and supported in order to grow, learn, and express themselves. As a nanny, I’m not just supervising — I’m helping shape their daily experience and development. That means showing up with patience, consistency, and care every day. It also means being a positive role model, respecting the family’s values, and communicating openly with parents to support the child’s needs in the best way possible.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite moments was when I was caring for a shy 4-year-old who had trouble adjusting to new people. I took the time to get to know her interests and learned she loved animals. I created a pretend “pet clinic” with her stuffed animals, and we spent the afternoon taking care of them, giving them names, and making little paper bandages. Over time, these playful activities helped her open up, and she started looking forward to our time together. Seeing her become more confident and expressive was a really special experience—it reminded me how powerful patience and play can be.
