I’m finishing up a summer nannying job in Brooklyn right now with one 8 year old girl and one 12 year old girl. One of my most meaningful experiences was working as a counselor and Head of Drama at Pleasant Valley YMCA Camp for Girls, a sleepaway camp in New Hampshire. I lived in a cabin with campers, led theatre classes, taught swim classes, and helped with everything from bedtime routines to homesick tears to high-energy games in the woods. Those three summers gave me a deep sense of responsibility, flexibility, and joy in caring for kids of all different personalities and needs.
