I've babysat for close family friends as well as other families who I met through my private violin instructor. I've also babysat for a few families I met on Nannylane! I have also worked at a licensed daycare in Madison with children from ages 1-12.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Although I'm not the most athletic human, I explored a plethora of sports including soccer, basketball, gymnastics, and taekwondo. I love painting and drawing and am always willing to play pretend.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Creating a near familial bond with not only the child/ren but with the parent/s and of course any pets. My motto is to never judge for the lifestyle or traditions of a family as I would never want that brought upon my own family. The people I work with are never just "the people I work with", but they are my extended family and one I hope to get along with for a long time.
My experience with special needs children...
My younger brother is on the autism spectrum - I've been his unofficial nanny since I was 12. He has a schedule he likes to adhere to so I am well acquainted with working around a schedule and with easing in new and innovative activities.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of the children I used to nanny had 2 pet rats. I have never ever been up close with a rat before, but this child had such a bond with their pets and they even made sure I learned how to feed them and where they kept the toys and food.
