I have experience caring for children with mild autism and some with non-verbal. I think it's important to communicate with families first and foremost to establish norms and care preferences. In my former experience, patience and boundaries is the foundation of caring for children on the autism spectrum, along with finding ways to keep children engaged in and excited by activities.
