Hello, my name is Stacey and I’m new to Douglas. I have done 10 years of pediatric nursing and have a great knowledge base of the development milestones and the importance of age appropriate learning. I am CPR certified and a strong knowledge of appropriate measures to take in emergencies that may scare someone with no medical experience. I have raised 3 wonderful children that have gone on with their own lives. I know how scary and stressful it is to find someone you trust with your most important and very loved children. I have a lot of family in the area and spend a considerable amount of time with my very precious nieces and great nephews. I enjoy keeping them busy with art work, age appropriate activities, walks, park trips, singing together. I think it’s very important to have a babysitter that’s stay’s interacted, Meaning hands on. Playing with them, role playing, painting, talking about why things work they do. Nobody wants someone watching their children and not being present.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy staying busy with the children. From doing arts and crafts, baking, telling stories, explaining answers to their most asked question “but Why” I love to take them swimming and picnics in the summer.

Is providing that compassionate and trustworthy care for your children. I think it’s important to interact with the children learning activities walks discussions about what we see and why things work the way they do, abiding by the expectations of the family and following any schedule that they have already been abiding by I think it’s important to get down on the children’s level and interact and play with them to help them learn and not just be on a phone or just skimming by just to make the day go through. Early intervention with children is important as far as education and development milestones go.

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked with adults and children with a range of different types of special needs. I’ve worked in day programs, group homes, individual homes, community settings. I have also had a passion in helping children with autism and wanting to help them function at best not just behavioral but in everyday needs.
