A little bit about me

I'm a mom of four, and have 3 grandsons. I absolutely love working, teaching and playing with children. I was previously a preschool (infants to 3)and head start (VPK) teacher. My goal was to be able to teach through structure, play, have fun playing and caring for those babies while parents are full filling their obligations. I'd prefer one child, but am willing to do 2. I'm a non smoker, and comfortable with pets. I'm a child at heart and love to have fun, while safety is my first priority. I'm very family oriented, dependable and flexible.
Hours between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ( earlier is possible and no later than 6 pm) Monday through Friday.

The most import part of child care for me Is safety, making sure they are clean, learning, fed and happy.

My experience with special needs children...

I’ve worked with a special needs child in a child care setting, one who was on the spectrum although he was not clinically diagnosed, he had sensory issues and learned very differently and was very intelligent. He just needed patience and understanding.

The most important part about being a nanny...

So many favorite moments, one that instantly comes to mind is when I had a special need, non verbal child in VPK, he was a child that no one had any success with and I offered to take him into my class. His mother had told me they ( his pediatrician, the school and family) know he will never be “ normal” and he is incapable of learning, he screams constantly and is fearful of everything.
By the end of the year, I had given him tools to communicate that he used daily, I was able to teach him letters, numbers, colors and shapes. Had him potty trained and socializing with other children. He was able to go to kindergarten with an ESE plan but none the less kindergarten in a mainstream school. His success was my success. I was invited to attend his kindergarten graduation by his mother, he had progressed to 1st grade.
