More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I've taught kids swim lessons ages 2+. While I taught, I balanced safety among groups of 3-6 kids who were anywhere from very high energy and excited to being shy and afraid of the water.
I am the oldest in my family and have 3 younger siblings. They are 2, 4, and 9 years younger than me. I spent a lot of time babysitting for my parents growing up, from changing diapers to bringing them to the park. They can be a handful. It's too bad that wasn't paid!
I've also done plenty of volunteering as a camp counselor, overseeing birthday parties, and generally being around kids.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I like to lean into whatever the kids are drawn to do, but some of my personal favorites include:
Exploring outside (going on an adventure)
Making up a new game
Creating new stories or telling classics
Singing, dancing, or anything involving music
PARKOUR (not really but I can teach them how to do a handstand safely.)

The most important part about being a nanny...
I think the most important thing is to give kids a full childhood. Let them learn and play and have a vibrant life. So much happens in childhood development that can be influenced by what you learn and experience as a kid. Kids think, feel and see the world in so many different ways, and it's really fun to discover the silly moments and watch them grow. I know it's cheesy and cliche but I think kids have a zest for life that we could call back to as we grow up.
That being said, the less cheerful and fun moments are just as important to me. No kid is ever, EVER going to be a perfect angel. In fact they tend to drive you up the wall sometimes. As long as someone is there to roll with the punches and have enough patience to let them learn from the not so fun times, there's benefit.

My experience with special needs children...
Cognitive disabilities are right in my wheelhouse. I've spent a lot of time around it, done research, and taken classes on them. Below is a list some of my most familiar.
ADHD - I have several siblings who have ADHD, I am well aware that they can bounce off the walls or have trouble following directions. I grew up with it, I can roll with it. It would be difficult to catch me off guard.
Anxiety/OCD - I have experience from myself, my siblings, and many of my friends when we were little. I feel confident in knowing how to help.
Autism - One of my siblings has autism, he communicates differently, struggled socially, and would elope. I grew up making sure he didn't run off while mom was buying groceries.
Physical disability is an area I have less experience with, but am very open to working with. I was a resident assistant in an assisted living/nursing home for two years. I would be happy administering medications and providing accommodations.
