A little bit about me

Hello, my name is Sydney. I am 33 years old and a mother to an 8-year-old. I hold a degree in Expressive Therapies from Lesley University as well as a certificate in Childcare.

My current position as a PCA for an individual with Rett syndrome is coming to an end as she will soon be entering an adult day program.

I have also worked as a Registered Behavior Technician with children ages 2 to 6 who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

I owned and operated a home daycare. Our classroom was a multi-age environment with up to six children at a time. I facilitated a fun, loving day of activities Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

While in college, I was a student trainee in psychiatric unit at Boston Children’s Hospital. This provided me with the skills to work with vulnerable populations, de-escalate challenging situations quickly, and keep children safe while still creating a fun and nurturing environment.

Registered Behavioral Technician working with children aged 2 to 6 years old with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. As an RBT, I work as a direct support clinician implementing the current adaptive behavior treatment protocol based on the practices of Applied Behavioral Analysis and ESDM models developed by the Behavioral Analysis.

Children provide special and memorable moments every day working with them. A lasting memory for me was being able to provide a child I was caring for who was undergoing treatments for a critical illness an opportunity to be outside her home and see a movie. This process took weeks but was a moment I will never forget.
