I love going on nature walks, to the beach, and reading with children. I spent half of my own childhood in a book and the other half in a tree. So, I love instilling that love for nature, learning, and being active.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Being patient, observant, hands-on but most importantly, just listening to each child. I’ve learned most kids can tell you exactly what they need from you if you just give them the time and energy to do so. Kids are so smart and curious and I genuinely love encouraging them to dive into their little passions.
My experience with special needs children...
Being a camp counselor, you come across kids from all different backgrounds and with all different needs. I’ve learned to listen and observe each child’s behavior; what one child needs is not always the same for the other. My own childhood experiences with being shy and quiet (tested for Aspergers several times) has helped me reach those children who aren’t as verbal or easy to read.

Growing up in the PNW is so special because we get to be so closely intertwined with nature. I love going on nature walks with or to the beach with kids and then hearing them relay the information they’ve learned. I’ve been teaching a family friends 4 year old son about marine life and I explained to him the process of a crab molting as having to buy bigger jeans to grow into. And now he refers to every pair of pants as his “exoskeleton.”
