A little bit about me

I've been a mom of 5 for 28 years, a nurse for over 30 years and have helped raise multiple nieces, nephews and my children's friends. I enjoy keeping children engaged in activities and not parked in front of a television or tablet. I was a Girl Scout leader from kindergarten to high school graduation for 8 young ladies. I can make craft activities for any occasion. My children were educated in a Montessori so I employ many of their training tactics with my little ones. They have fun and don't even realize they're learning. I prefer to be active and love planning age appropriate adventures with parents permission. During down time, I don't mind doing some light cleaning, meal prep or laundry. I have excellent references from previous employers and co-workers. I'm comfortable around pets and farm animals as well. We can incorporate walks and feeding schedules with the kids schedules.

Is having fun while providing a safe environment and abiding by the parents rules and schedule.

My experience with special needs children...

I'm a nurse by trade, so I have cared for children with trachs, feeding tube's, ventilator dependent, oxygen dependent, mobility equipment. I have also cared for sick children with acute illnesses.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Seeing a child's eyes light up when something "clicks" and they suddenly understand something. I was using a baking lesson to reinforce fractions when suddenly a pie helped it all make sense. That "Ah-Ha" moment is one of my favorites! Another is when a child who was terrified of the pool trusted me enough to allow me to hold her in the water. She was brave enough to work up to putting her face in the water and blow bubbles. She was swimming like a little fish by the end of the summer.
