A little bit about me

My name is Tayler and I am an experienced teacher and nanny. I graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2017 with a degree in Family Social Science and Leadership. Since graduating I have spent most of my time teaching Kindergarten and Pre-K but have nannied for multiple families as well. I have experience with ages 6 months-13 years old, but as an educator I have a deep passion for ages 2-6 and preparing children for school. I not only come with a deep set of skills and knowledge as an educator, but also a plethora of teaching manipulatives, books, and curriculum that I love to incorporate with the families I work with. I currently live in West Palm Beach, Florida with my husband but we are moving back to Minnesota end of May.

Other fun facts about me:
-I have 6 younger siblings
-I've nannied for three different families with twins (ages 6 months-5 years old)
-I had two live in nannies growing up and I'm still close with both of them to this day!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I just finished my 5th of teaching (4 years of Kindergarten, 1 year of Pre-K). I have 6 younger siblings so my babysitting experience started at a young age. I nannied in high school, throughout college, and while teaching. Last year I took a break from teaching and nannied for a family full time before I moved states. I'm looking forward to taking my teaching skills to a full time position with a family.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

-Exploring outside (it's so fun to watch where a child's imagination will take us!)
-Practicing early reading skills (letter sounds, writing letters, age appropriate vocabulary)
-Coloring/arts and crafts
-Puzzles and building things
-Library visits (helping a child find their love for reading is very special)
-Dance parties to our favorite songs
-Just chatting (I love hearing what's going on in a child's mind! They are amazing!)
-Swimming
-Kid friendly cooking (helping kids be apart of their healthy eating is fun)
-Visits to the zoo, parks, museums, all the things!
-Running errands together to practice our manners & learn about our community

The most important part about being a nanny...

Rooting every day in love and joy, being flexible and open to learning from and with a family, and remembering that someone's childhood is in your hands -a job I don't take lightly or for granted!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Getting flown back to Chicago for a weekend to watch my old nanny kids. Their parents went on vacation and we had lots of fun exploring outside, cooking together, coloring, and having a few treats of course. Nothing beat those welcome back hugs from the kiddos!
