Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I really enjoy doing outdoor activities, science, and crafts with children. Some of my favorite outdoor games to play are crab soccer, octopus tag, and water activities. For science I like letting the kids browse a science activity website and completing the science experiment that they pick out. I find that this lets them be free within their own creativity while learning valuable educational skills. Arts and crafts are one of the most fun activities to me whether it’s clay art, coloring, or building things. I think it is so important for kids to have creative outlets that go hand in hand with education.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny for me is giving a safe and loving environment to children. I understand the struggles of growing up whether it’s difficulty in school or feeling the pressure of your peers. It is so important for them to feel safe and free to express their opinions. I enjoy providing comfort, room for creativity, and an outlet to explore the things they love. I would also have to say safety and time management is critical. I understand always being on time or early to different destinations and always keeping an eye on children. A lot can happen within moments away from them and a strong maternal instinct is essential to safety.
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked with three different kids who have had autism, learning disabilities, and medical conditions alongside other children. I understand the importance of sensory time, reassurance, independence, and a set routine for a healthy environment.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite moments working with kids was when I was outside with a group of girls on the track. The boys were running around playing football while the girls were sitting on the track seemingly uninterested in playing. I came up with a game for the girls to stand on one foot like a flamingo something I used to do in dance as a child. One of the girls kept her balance for a very long time and won! She asked me where I knew about that game and I told her I did dance my whole life. I inspired her to start dancing and I was excited to see the new steps she was learning everyday I came into work. It felt really honorable to have someone who looked up to me so much. It was a wonderful feeling to know I truly inspired her and I got to watch her turn into an amazing young girl who loved what she did. I will never forget the impact she left on my heart and my passion.
