A little bit about me

Hi there! My name is Tellie! I am currently a sophomore enrolled at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, but I grew up in a smaller town in Maine. I have a lot of experience working with children ages 6-10, and I also spent last summer nannying two girls ages one-and-a-half and three-and-a-half. Throughout high school I was a nanny over the summer for a family with two kids who are now eight and eleven, and in the winter I worked at my local mountain as a ski instructor for children ages 6-10. I am also CPR certified and trained in basic first aid. Working with kids brings me so much joy, and I truly love to engage with them and watch as they grow and learn.

I am hoping to find a family to work with for the end of May and through the month of June. I am open to discussing hours and can provide references upon request. I would love to meet you and get to know your children!

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think it is really important to foster a sense of individuality in young kids. Giving them the opportunity to explore and try new things in a safe environment is, in my opinion, such an important aspect of their growth. Equally as important is giving kids the space to play, and to actually play alongside them. Letting them express themselves through games and make-believe is so valuable, and in taking part in their activities, it shows that you care.

The most important part about being a nanny...

During high school, I nannied for a family with two kids, so I got to know the children really well. At the end of the last day I spent with them before I moved away for college, the little boy gave me the biggest hug and whispered in my ear: "I'm going to miss you so much. You're like my second older sister.". It was in that moment that I knew my presence and engagement was making a difference in his life.
