Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

through 15+ years as a professional children's magician and entertainer, in addition to working as a camp counselor and "kid-sitter extraordinaire." I also focus on continued learning of everything kid-related, from keeping up with the latest toys and trends, to learning new communication techniques, different conflict resolution strategies, and more.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

include epic games of tag at park playgrounds, cracking them up by being one of the funniest adults they've ever met, wowing them with my endless energy, taking them to theme parks and trampoline parks, bringing over my massive Nerf arsenal for Nerf wars, and setting them up to fall asleep smiling by reading them one of my favorite bedtime stories with lots of silly character voices.

The most important part about being a nanny...

is that it gives me a chance to really make a positive difference in the lives of the kids I get to interact with each day. I may not be solving global warming or ending world hunger, but when I get to make kids laugh, smile, and feel cared for and respected, I know that at least in their world, I've made a difference.

My experience with special needs children...

includes those with autism, ADHD, anxiety, and sensory processing disorder. Instead of treating kids as being "disabled" or giving them a label, I instead treat them like they're just a regular kid who might do some things a bit differently.

The most important part about being a nanny...

is always when I achieve a "best" with a kid. So when I hear a kid say he had "the best day ever," or that I'm "the best babysitter he's ever had," or that today was "the most fun day he's ever had at a theme park," etc., that's something that really makes me feel good, as it tells me I created a great memory that's going to last a really long time. It also always cracks me up when I hear kids repeating back some of my own funny sayings and catchphrases. Sometimes I don't realize how funny they are until I hear someone else saying them!
