A little bit about me

My name is Tori and I am originally from Oakland, California. I am currently living in Houston, Texas while I attend school at the illustrious Texas Southern University. Since I was 15, I have been interested in childcare, picking up my first job at a summer camp as an intern in 2018. My knack for childcare continued throughout 2019 and 2021 as I worked for Camp as a counselor. Those were life-changing experiences for me because that's when I truly began to love working with children. My most recent childcare experience was working at a sleep-away camp over the summer as a camp counselor. Being a camp counselor for 5 weeks was one of the best experiences of my life. The kids I met have made an impact on me that will last for years to come. Leading cabins, working 24/7 around the clock, and building connections with my campers helped me realize that childcare is my calling. I look forward to meeting your family!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

One of my campers named Lyla once asked me during playtime if I could be her mom. That was one of the statements from children that have stuck with me throughout my years working with them. Every summer since I was 15, I've worked with young children. It's something that brings me joy and it is one of my favorite things to do. I've had experience at a plethora of summer camps such as CYO Camp, Camp EDMO, and Camp Galileo. In my senior year of high school, I volunteered at a charter school in Oakland called Francophone Academy. I have also volunteered at my old school, Saint Leo the Great in Oakland.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy doing activities with children that they’ll remember. An activity of mine that I love doing with children is painting. Painting allows children to freely express themselves with no guidelines. It is one of the most freeing activities one can do and I really enjoy doing that with children. Another activity I enjoy doing with children is a sport or competitive game. I enjoy these because it gives children a chance to show their teamwork and also leadership.
