Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I’ve volunteered to babysit through my church, I was a teachers assistant in a Kindergarten classroom, and I’ve taught a sign language class to Third Graders. I also received one of my high school PE credits by pushing wheelchairs and walking with special needs children everyday, and I enjoyed every experience!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy doing everything, playing sports, board games, crafts, etc. I can be very energetic and I’m not opposed to sitting at the kids table or playing a game of tag when I’m around children! I tend to keep them busy! I also know American Sign Language and I can teach basic conversational signs if that’s something your kids are ready for. Summer is also coming up, so time for bracelets, farmers market trips, maybe planting something?
The most important part about being a nanny...
To me, the most important part is making sure these little sponges are growing up to be good humans, and to send them off into the world with the knowledge they need to be kind and take care of themselves and make the world a bit of a better place by doing so. Sure I’m supervising them, and don’t get me wrong, that’s equally as important, but I’m just talking about setting good examples, and taking little opportunities to learn when we can. That way we can provide a safe space for them to grow
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked with special needs kids when I volunteered my time assisting during PE at my high school, and it was very rewarding, and I made friends with so many of the students! I loved the connections we made that year
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment was when I was watching a family friends’ kids, and her one year old walked right over to the diapers when she realized she needed a diaper change, and brought me back a fresh diaper and a package of wipes. I was floored, what did they need me for then?
