I have volunteered to work in the special needs classes at school. The longest consecutive time was about a year on every school day.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Not a nanny moment, but I was watching these younger kids for a few hours while their parents set up a school event. We (my friend and I) ended up working with around 4 or 5 grade schoolers and a child around the 1 year mark. The baby was getting tired and a little cranky so I found her blanket and laid it out on me, following by opening up my youtube to find a song or some short funny video to help soothe her. Once she started calming down and enjoying her sing-along video, the older kids were talking about songs they like and as a show-choir and theatre kid, I HAD to get in on that conversation! One kid asked to play music, when a Taylor Swift song came on she started full out singing with us! After she sang with us, she told us how she wants to do more musicals and her friend started showing us her gymnastics! A few weeks later at my school, we did a performing arts show where elementary schools come watch. The gymnast was one of the students that came, it was such a sweet moment!
