More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I raised my own, and I helped with my granddaughters as well.
Before I became a working mother, I was married to a professional baseball player and I cared for other players wives children when needed.
People usually picture the profession in terms of players having a lot of resources, but many of us moved around a lot, and when dropped to a new city, with a new team (trades, or just signing with different teams) you don’t have family nearby, and it’s uncomfortable to rely on strangers, so teammates become family. We played winter ball in South America too and so many of us were young people with and without kids and we helped each other out.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy doing whatever the child enjoys and that’s age specific!
With newborns it’s eating, burping, diapering, sometimes a little cooing, tummy time, sleeping. Or just holding and soothing them.
Toddlers can enjoy a wide variety of things from building with blocks, reading, puppet making from lunch bags, and of course some playground time! I love when their imaginations go on a journey.
And young kids are a blast too!! They usually love winning games! They too love playground time, and they often like to cook meals like pizza, of course with parents approval. And there’s the ever present video games .. good thing drs say they’re good for building hand/eye coordination!

The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part is for the kids to be comfortable with you so that they feel free to be themselves. It’s important that children feel that you truly care for them, and about them. I would want a nanny who loves children first and foremost! And third, and extremely important, a nanny should have good reflexes in an emergency. They should have good instincts, and think quickly if anything of issue arises.
My experience with special needs children...
My own grandchildren are special needs.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I love making kids happy, and babies smile!
It’s so rewarding teaching children about new things also!! School age children don’t always learn about things such as our own local natural wonders. I was surprised that my own eight year old granddaughter never knew about the Great Lakes, and where we live in proximity to them. I understand that parents are too busy to stop and teach such things, and that’s where one on one time with a nanny can be such a valuable experience!!
