A little bit about me

I graduated from UNCG this year, with a degree in psychology, with the hopes of becoming a child psychopathologist! I have worked as a summer camp counselor at Holston Camp and retreat Center for three years, and I became the Day Camp Director this year. I have also been a lifeguard and swim instructor for the past two years, so I am very passionate about helping people, but my passion lies with helping children.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I worked for three years at Holston Camp and Retreat Center as a summer camp counselor, and I recently got promoted to Day Camp Director this year.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I LOVE being outside with children. I think it not only helps me personally, but it is also beneficial for kids to get out of the house and away from electronics and anything that might cause them stress, and unwind outside. I also like swimming with kids as I've taught swim lessons too! I'm always down for a chill night though, if that's what the kids are feeling.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part is that you are passionante and genuine about what you do. You have to be willing to really understand the kids around you, and it's important to always understand that they perceive a ton more than many people think. Take them seriously, treat them as you'd want to be treated (the golden rule!), and know when to have fun but also when to keep them safe.

My experience with special needs children...

There have been a few campers that are special needs that have come to Holston Center. Other than that, I unfortunetly don't have a lot of personal experience, but I am very open to learning.

The most important part about being a nanny...

At Holston, we have dance nights every Thursdays. I remember in 2024 when I was dancing with the kids that I had a profound sense that working with them is exactly what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. The joy on their faces is everything to me, and I strive to be a person that kids can look to for when they need support, guidance, or just someone to be a friend.
