A little bit about me

Hi! I'm Tula! I'm a 21-year old college graduate from Seattle, Washington. I've been going to school at California Polytechnic State University in California for the last four years, and now I'm looking forward to moving to Manhattan in July!

I started babysitting when I was 12 years old, and I've loved working in childcare ever since. I've worked with kids aged 8 months to 11 years old. When I was 14 and 15 I worked as a camp counselor for the YMCA both summers. Later, when I was 16, I started working as a Kids Care supervisor for a country club in Seattle, where I watched over 20-25 kids at a time. In this role, I was supervising children aged 9 months to 11 years old. I also worked as a camp counselor at the same country club for each summer during my time there.

In college, I acquired a full-time nannying position for a family with three girls. This job lasted three months during summer, until I had to go back to school. I'm kooking forward to start working with kids again!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I worked as a kids care attendee and supervisor at a country club in Seattle for three years. Here, I would watch over kids aged 9-months to 11 years old. Sometimes I would watch up to 20 kids at a time. In addition to that, I also worked as a camp counselor at the same country club for three summers.

I also worked as a camp counselor for two years at YMCA over-night camps, watching kids aged 5-10.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Arts and crafts, going on walks outside or going to the park, reading, going on adventures, playing games, baking, and more!

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think the most important part about being a nanny is creating a relationship with the kids where they feel like they can talk to you about anything, to the point where we just feel like friends. This is also my favorite part about nannying because it makes the job so much more enjoyable (even though it already is so enjoyable).

My experience with special needs children...

As a teenager, I volunteered as a soccer coach for kids with special needs once a week. I was also part of the unifed club in high school, where I ate lunch with kids with disabilities. Additionally, I was a babysitter for a family with a child with a multitude of different disabilities as well.

However, I don't have much experience with kids with a more severe disability than autism.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite moments as a nanny was when we went to the girls' favorite beach and go swimming. They would always beg to play with my dog, Rocky, so we picked him up and headed to the park. To get to the special beach, we had to hike through the woods until we popped out onto Lake Washington. The twins were still learning how to swim, so they loved to climb all over me in the water. One of their favorite games consisted of them laying in my arms at the surface of the water, and I would think of a color in my head. The girls would guess different colors, and if they guessed the same one I was thinking of, I would dunk their heads in the water! Watching their laughter after lifting them out of the water was one of the purest expressions of joy I'd ever gotten to be a part of! Makes me smile just to think about it!
