A little bit about me

I worked in childcare for two years and loved every second of it! I have 5 younger siblings, (ages 3, 6, 13, and twin 16 year olds), so I have plenty of experience with kids of all ages. Also, two of my siblings have special needs, which means I have no problem caring for kids who require a little more attention and love. Every time I nanny or babysit, I make sure to tidy up during and after any activities, and make sure to leave the house better than I found it. It is so important to me that kids have fun while I’m with them! This includes pillow fights, playing pretend, building forts, scavenger hunts, baking treats, and making crafts. Alongside all the fun we have, I do set aside time for homework, meals and snacks, nap time, potty breaks, washing dirty hands and faces, etc. I’ve found that keeping kids occupied with non-electronic activities is always the way to go, but watching a movie or T.V. show may happen from time to time. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I’ve had paid experience working in the childcare center at my parent’s church, volunteered at several VBS programs, worked at after school programs such as cheer and basketball camps, as well as science camps.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

- Making obstacle courses out of things we find around the house/ outside
- Crafts of any kind: paper kites, paper chains, painting, collages of their favorite things, drawing what we see, etc. (I bring art supplies from home)
- Baking cookies, cupcakes, or cakes and decorating them
- Building forts
- Helping them with school projects and homework
- Playing “fashion show” with various items from their closets
- Lunch/ snack picnic in the backyard or park
- Playing “talent show“ or “show and tell”
- Water ballon/ water gun fights on a hot day

The most important part about being a nanny is creating an environment that is warm, comfortable, and somewhat familiar for not only the children, but for the parents as well.

My experience with special needs children...

My 1st grade age sister has autism and I’ve helped take care of her since she was born. My preschool age brother has an unidentified processing disorder and has been diagnosed with ADD. I also regularly babysat for two siblings with mild to severe autism and for an only child with Down syndrome.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I was putting one of my boys to bed and tucking him in when he said, “I love you Miss Tyler,” and gave me a kiss on the cheek. That moment was so sweet because he was going to sleep 15 minutes early for throwing a book at his brother. Even though he was frustrated with me for giving him a consequence, he still said he loved me, which just made my heart melt.
