Hello All, My name is Unity Thornton. Outside of Nannying I am a Professional Organizer, Amateur Jeweler, Master Naturalist, maker of things and lifelong learner!
I love learning about the individual world of each child and am currently training to be a Registered Behavioral Technician in order to be able to better support children with special need and the adults who care for them! I am a big believer in open communication (with parents and kids), letting kids ask questions and encouraging a curiosity about everything around them! More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have babysat, nannied and volunteered with children often over the years, I was in scouts for 12 years, three of those were spent primarily teaching and guiding younger children, over that time I taught classes, badges, presentations and art to children 5yo-16yo. I have taught everything from swim lessons and homework to horseback riding and outdoor survival skills!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love being outdoors and teaching kids about the world around them, helping them explore and expand their own interests and to enjoy learning!

The most important part about being a nanny...

To me is helping my nanny kids explore and understand the world, I believe that we are raising not only children but the next generation of people as well! I am very life skills focused! For younger children,(middle school and under) that looks like encouraging and helping with the development of problem solving, emotional regulation and personal interests. With Teens I am focused on the same but with the addition of more complex life skills, such as how to navigate changing friendships, set good boundaries, and balance all our activities,(School/homework, Sports, enough rest, a healthy diet, friend time, and even jobs with the older high school crowd). I look forward to helping support your family however you need!

My experience with special needs children...

I am working on my RBT certification, and am always interested in learning how I can better support those around me. I currently have limited special needs experience.
