A little bit about me

I am Uriya. I live in Los Angeles and have spent the last three years working in Education. Working as an Education Specialist at a museum, I have created several play-based, hands on, developmentally appropriate lesson plans for K-12 students. This has also given me a lot of experience in classrooms for students of all ages. Most recently, I completed a lesson plan for a new TK program for 4 year olds in LAUSD. I also am the Assistant Director of Youth and Children’s Ministries at Westwood United Methodist Church. In that role I get to work with our youth group (middle and high school) and our children (birth to fifth grade). I have always worked in education and with children. I have been a babysitter for many children, and I have been a nanny for 3 families. My approach is gentle, child-centered, and always focused on age appropriate development. I love Montessori and finding screen free ways to have fun and learn! I am so excited to get to know your family and help support you!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I worked as a camp counselor for 6th graders for 3 years. I helped plan activities for the day, chaperoned them on trips and excursions, and helped with day to day issues campers had. I worked with some students with behavioral issues and followed parent-given plans when required.
In college I was a nanny for 2 girls, aged 6 and 8 until they were 8 and 10. I was responsible for feeding them, helping with homework and summer assignments, implementing a schedule, and taking them to the library, the park, etc.
In graduate school I was a nanny for a family I am still incredibly close to. Their children were 2 months (g) and 3 years old (b). I was responsible for naps, diaper changes, getting the kids dressed for the day, developing learning and enrichment activities, and taking the children on small excursions.
In the last 3 years I have worked in hundreds of LAUSD classrooms for K-12 students. I also have spent the last 2 years working at a church with the youth and children’s ministries.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

As an educator, my favorite thing to do outside of the home is to visit the library or local museums. I enjoy making fun moments educational. I also love playing outside with kids, especially when we can incorporate more enriching activities like chalk or water play! Inside, I love to come up with creative crafts or do some collaborative cooking with kids. I enjoy creating scavenger hunts, designing age appropriate seasonal crafts, doing science experiments, and doing whatever it takes to get the sillies out!
I loved play-based, hands on learning. I can find a million things to do without screens!

The most important part about being a nanny...

I am a child development nerd! So I truly derive so much joy from watching children grow and change as their brains develop. I believe children are so capable and we can learn so much from them by just listening and paying attention. I do not believe a child can be bad, and watching children develop means understanding what comes with each stage. I love being a resource, an advocate, and a friend to each of my kids.
Being able to grow your relationships with a family is the best! I love that for each family I have worked for, we have maintained some kind of relationship that has allowed me to continue to see kids grow. I also have learned that, no matter the phase, kids are only one way for so long. It is amazing to watch kids through all their phases, and it is something I love to be apart of.

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked with children with behavioral issues and autism spectrum disorder in a group setting, but not individually.

The most important part about being a nanny...

With the family I have most recently worked for, I got into a daily habit with the precious little boy who I watched. Every day he walked me to the driveway, closed the car door for me, and waved and yelled "goodbye, see you tomorrow" down the street until he could no longer see my car. Being that he was 3, it sounded more like “seeya toomowoe!”
I would honk occasionally and stick my hand out the window to wave as I drove away. I so looked forward to his sweet little "see you tomorrow" every day!

Hello, Families! I am a very honest, energetic and loving nanny. I have been caring for children for as long as I can remember, starting in elementary school. Most recently, I worked as a nanny/housekeeper for a child with special needs. I love to cook and do not have any problems doing some housekeeping (picking up after the children, doing dishes, occasional children’s laundry, etc.). I am excellent at making super fun (healthy) snacks for children! :)

Julia T. - Seeking Work in Los Angeles

Full-Time Nanny Available in Los Angeles, CA: Julia T.

I'm Julia! Last year I graduated from the University of Oregon where I played Division I lacrosse for four years and majored in Advertising. I did lots of babysitting throughout that time, so after graduation I pursued a dream of studying French and living in Paris, France by becoming an Au Pair to three French children. I loved the children and enjoyed our daily activities: I took them to after school activities, taught English, drew dinosaurs, visited aquariums with them, and cooked dinner for the kids, as well as doing light housework to help the parents before they got home from work. We also worked on teaching the kids to clear their own plates and have responsibilities for preparing their sports bags and arriving to lessons/practices on-time. It was a joy learning about three kids of very different ages. I'd love to do it again!
