Hi there! My name is Vanessa! I am a senior college student at MTSU studying theatre. I’ve been fortunate enough to babysit for three different families, kids of varying ages from 11 months - 6 years old. I love helping families and giving them the peace of mind that they can have a trusted adult to watch their kid(s). I value integrity above all, being honest with parents about how the day went and meticulously updating on everything like feedings and naps.
As a theatre major, I am a very involved person with imagination and play time. You tell me we are spies trying to sneak into a museum? I’m all in on the adventure. You want to make a bed for the tooth fairy? Give me some tape and paper. I’m very much under the mindset of child led play, but intervening when necessary for safety.
Also I have ADHD and Autism, so I have personal experience on the neurodivergence of the two.

I got to Student Direct a homeschool children’s theatre group for 3 hours a week. Working under the director, I helped manage kids ages 7-18. I’ve also helped with family friend’s kids, changing diapers and putting down for a nap.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Imagination play time, puzzles, playing outside with chalk, going on walks, playing with slip and slides or sprinklers, cooking, etc.
My favorite thing is to just be creative and make up something to do!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Listening and understanding. Listening to what the parents/guardians want for their child/children, but also listening to the kid and what they want and need. It’s about being in the moment and aware of everything.
