More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have a great deal of experience nurturing and teaching children! I am the mother of four adult children and a grandmother of 5! In addition, I am a NY State Certified Teacher (Birth to 6th grade). Much of my teaching career has been spent in a Universal PreK Classroom. I believe that children, especially from birth to five, are like little sponges! I was also the Director for the Lord of Life Child Care Center. In that capacity, I had the pleasure and the responsibility, to care for little ones of all ages. To insure the mental and physical health, safety and education of both my Staff and of course, my Children!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I believe that hands-on play is the best way to nurture a child's desire to learn. I enjoy providing activities based on the interests and the developmental stage of each child. Some activities I enjoy doing with children are: taking walks to explore the Earth, playing make believe, cooking, building with blocks, painting, reading, hand puppets, making and playing with playdough, puzzles, coloring, going to the zoo, going to a play ground, safe water play, listening to music, watching age appropriate media, listen to and make music, playing games, etc...
The most important part about being a nanny...
is caring and nurturing the children in my care. Keeping them safe; working along with the parents to keep a consistent environment..
My experience with special needs children...
My son has Asperger's Syndrome, so I am experienced and knowledgeable about the Autistic Spectrum. I also have experience with children that are bipolar, that have small motor skill issues and that have hearing issues..
