I’m 23 years old and recently made the move from Wisconsin to Tennessee, which has been an exciting transition. The change in environment has been refreshing, and I’m enjoying the opportunities that come with it, including being closer to my parents who live here. My twin sister and older brother live in Vicksburg, Mississippi, and I cherish the time we get to spend together despite the distance.

I’m someone who loves being outdoors and staying active. Hiking is one of my favorite hobbies, and I’m always looking for new trails to explore. Reading and painting also help me unwind and fuel my creativity, while running is essential for staying fit and clearing my mind. The most important part about being a nanny...

For me, the most important part of being a nanny is building a strong, trusting relationship with the kids and their family. I know how essential it is for children to have someone they can rely on—someone who makes them feel safe, heard, and understood. I want to be a positive influence in their lives and help them grow emotionally, socially, and intellectually.

It’s also important for me to communicate openly with the parents, so we’re all on the same page. I want to make sure I’m aligned with their values and parenting style, so I’m supporting their approach while also keeping their kids engaged and happy.

If I were to sum it up, it’s all about being a reliable, caring presence in the kids' lives while also fostering a collaborative relationship with the family.

My experience with special needs children...

I have served with children who have had special needs for a total of one year. On Sunday mornings a team of volunteers and I would spend extra time with these students, providing them with adequate care.

I also volunteered at Open Wings, a school for children with special needs where I assisted in recess, snack time, cleaning, and project based learning activities.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I had a kid give me a big hug and say that I was their best friend in the whole wide world.
It’s moments like that, that really remind me of the heart of nannying—it's not just about the tasks or responsibilities but the deep impact you can have on a child's life.
