Patience, understanding and an open mind. Not all children are the same and not all parents are the same. The most important thing is to understand the families needs and wants; and to use your patience to care for children based on their personality and the culture of that family.

Have cared for autistic children as well as gone with my mother whose a teacher to care for special needs students in a summer program. I also spent a lot of time in school time helping out with the special needs students.
