A little bit about me

I am the oldest of four, the built-in babysitter and all of my Mothers friends knew it. I have been babysitting since I was 10 years old and took my first “babysitter certification” when I was 13. Once my family and I moved to CT I started to do more formal babysitting, I worked for a family part-time during the summers and as needed during the school year for 3 years. Then during the summer of 2020 I went to nanny for a family in Seattle. Now I am currently working at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center as a Patient Care Assistant/Tech. Through this job I have worked nighshifts assigned to one baby feeding them, bathing them, and holding them. I have spent an entire 12 hour shift keeping a hyperactive, confined 3 year old entertained. I have spent 3 shifts in a row talking with the same teen about their life and dreams. My favorite assignments are those involving me being with a baby the whole shift, I also have a lot of experience in the NICU.

I love to be outside, read, and learn new things. It’s important to me that I am involved with a family that prioritizes education and time away from screens. I like to set up age appropriate activities whether that be strolls through the park, museum visits, reading time, or crafts. I love to cook and bake as well (and have experience with dietary restrictions- elective and otherwise).

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being involved with a family and helping promote the growth of their kid is such a gift. Showing how to care for others, be a lifelong learner, and being a general source of comfort is something that I find so rewarding.

My experience with special needs children...

The nature of working in a hospital means meeting a lot of different types of kids. I’ve worked primarily with autistic children and would be open to doing that in a nannying setting.

The most important part about being a nanny...

When I was nannying for a family in Seattle at the beginning of lockdown, the kids were so bored. I loved the days that we spent at the pool and running around outside. Coming up with new ways to keep kids entertained in such a confined time was a challenge, but rewarding.
