I believe the most important part of being a nanny is making the kids feel safe. It can be weird and uncomfortable to have a new person in your house telling you what to do, so my goal will always be to make the kids feel comfortable and safe while I'm around.
My experience with special needs children...
I've worked with a variety of different children, and though I don't have intense experience with children with disabilities, I am used to cating for children with anxiety, allergies, bathroom issues, and things of that nature. I will always be willing to learn how to help a child if you would be willing to teach!
The most important part about being a nanny...
While working at my summer camp I was a life guard, so the kids would always try to get me into the water. They would line up down the dock to "wrestle" with me, which inevitably ended in me throwing them in.
