A little bit about me

My name is Whitney and I am looking for a kind and authentic new family to work with. I have been a full time nanny for three families and a part time nanny for many others. I have an undergraduate degree in Child Development, a Masters in clinical social work (counseling), and worked in Adoptions for 7 years. I would describe myself as calm, patient, loving, creative, educated, articulate, independent, naturally-minded, trustworthy, and protective. I am very experienced with infants, but have worked with children of all ages. I am a mother of older children and they will be in school during the day. I am looking for a position that is 3 days per week, ideally between the hours of 8:30 - 5:30, and around 24 - 30 total hours per week. I am not available on Fridays. I am willing to do any and all household management responsibilities. I am also open to a position that is primarily or fully household management. I prefer families who are looking for a commitment of 1 year or longer.

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have been a full time nanny for 3 families. I have been a part time and/or temporary nanny for many other families. I also taught preschool and homeschooled my daughter for a period of time.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I have many creative interests including cooking, dance, music, painting, drawing, and calligraphy, and love to share that creativity with the children in my care. I enjoy taking children on daily walks to get fresh air. I also like to take children to the library for story time.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I feel that the most important parts of being a nanny are protecting and keeping children safe, as well as loving them and helping them to establish a foundational sense of trust and security early in their lives.

My experience with special needs children...

I have a background in Adoptions and worked extensively with children who have emotional and attachment issues. I also have a background in Child Development and studied various childhood developmental disabilities. I have worked briefly with children who have Autism, Down Syndrome, and various learning differences.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moment was when I went back to visit a little girl whom I had nannied for when she was an infant and young toddler. It had been atleast six months since I had seen her (because I had moved out of town at that point), but she remembered exactly whom I was and ran up to me with her hands up in the air and said my name.
